Bear Soldiers wore bear claw necklaces and were feared in battle. One story told by the elders was how the enemy found a Bear Soldier warrior hurt badly in battle, he was wearing a bear claw necklace. They took him back to their camp and nursed him back to health, gave him a home and let him go back to his camp. So revered was the power of the bear that people did not want any trouble from the Bear Spirit.
